Sharing and partnering for applying the UN Global Compact principles in Bulgaria was initiated in 2005 and financially supported by UN Global Compact in New York in the framework of seed funding for GC networks. The project includes three main components: Traveling seminar, Global Compact Network Retreat, Global Compact +3 National Forum. The overall aim of the project is the constitution of Global Compact’s network governance structure in Bulgaria as well as strengthening and increasing the role of the local network in view of the future governance of the GC initiative in Bulgaria; enhancing the dialogue among GC stakeholders for effective exchange of best practices and lessons learnt and improving the quality of companies’ engagement for achieving a greater positive impact on the ground. To recapitulate work from the last three years and to draw directions for future development, the Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact invited its members and partners to a National Forum Global Compact + 3: Businesses against Corruption on 18 April 2006 in Sofia. The forum served as the official launch of the tenth principle of the UN Global Compact Initiative — the fight against corruption — and gathered over 180 participants from the private sector, Bulgarian government, non-governmental organizations, business associations and media.
